Make a short product video from photos you already have, with an AI voiceover

Dave, who runs a small kitchenware shop (DTDF Home & Kitchen), turned four product photos into a 35-second upright video for TikTok, Instagram Reels and his product page without filming anything. He wrote a short script himself, made the voiceover in ElevenLabs and built the video in InVideo, all on free plans.

  1. 1
    ☐

    Choose your photos

Pick 3-5 bright photos of one product: one in use, one close-up, one showing the features. Clear photos matter more than anything else.

  2. 2
    ☐

    Write a 30-second script yourself

About 80-100 words in four parts: a problem the buyer recognises, the product name, each feature tied to a real use, and where to buy. Use the 'Script helper' prompt below if you're stuck, then rewrite it in your words.

  3. 3
    ☐

    Remove any brackets

ElevenLabs treats anything in [square brackets] as a delivery instruction, not words to read, so those words would be skipped. Delete all notes and brackets.

  4. 4
    ☐

    Make the voiceover

In ElevenLabs open Text to Speech, paste the script, pick a voice that suits the product (browse the library; the default may sound too serious), click Generate speech, and download the take you like as an MP3.

  5. 5
    ☐

Build the video the cheap way

For a simple photos-plus-voice video, use InVideo's free Timeline Editor: upload the MP3 and photos and place each photo along the voiceover. Dave says it takes about 15 minutes and doesn't use AI credits.

  6. 6
    ☐

Add captions, music and an end card

Turn on large captions (most people watch with the sound off), add quiet background music, and finish with a card showing your shop name and 'link below'.

  7. 7
    ☐

    Check before you post

Watch it on your phone. Check for watermarks and commercial-use limits, and switch on the AI-generated label where TikTok or Instagram ask for it.

  8. 8
    ☐

Optional: let InVideo's AI agent build it

If you'd rather describe the video, use the 'InVideo agent' prompt below. Dave warns the agent spent all his free credits checking its own work, so save it for bigger jobs.

💬 Copy-paste prompts

Tap Copy prompt, paste it into your AI (Grok, ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini), then replace the [yellow bits] with your own details.

💬 Script helper
Write a 30-second voiceover script (80-100 words) for a vertical product video.
Product: [product name]. What it does: [main job]. Features: [feature 1 and the real use], [feature 2 and the real use], [feature 3 and the real use]. Who buys it: [customer]. Where to buy: [shop name, 'link below'].
Structure: 1) a problem the buyer recognises, in one line, 2) the product name, 3) each feature tied to something they'll actually do with it, 4) where to buy.
Plain, friendly British English. No square brackets, no stage directions, no claims I haven't listed. Give me 2 versions.
💬 InVideo agent
Make a vertical 9:16 video for TikTok and Instagram Reels, about [35] seconds long.
Use ONLY my uploaded voiceover for the audio and ONLY my uploaded photos for the product. Do not add stock footage of other products.
Add gentle movement to the photos, large readable captions that match the voiceover word for word, quiet background music under the voice, and a final card that says '[shop name], link below'.
Export once, then stop and ask me before making any changes.

⚠️ Tips & common mistakes

🌟 Why it's worth it

💡 Why it mattersProducts sell better on video, but filming and editing every listing takes hours. He says the voiceover used about 550 of 10,000 free ElevenLabs credits, roughly 18 voiceovers of that length before paying anything.
🏷️ Real exampleDave, DTDF Home & Kitchen: a six-sided grater, four photos (a kitchen shot, an infographic, one with grated cheese, a close-up), an 80-100 word script, two ElevenLabs takes, and the fifth InVideo export was 'genuinely usable'.
