I want to check real demand for an idea before building it, using Google Trends (free, trends.google.com). I'll run the searches myself. Idea: a booking app for home tutors. Country: Malaysia. 1. Give me 8 words or phrases customers might actually search (in English and Malay), and one boring, steady 'control' word in the same field. 2. Group them into charts of up to 5 terms (including the control in each) and tell me which time ranges to check (5 years and 12 months). 3. Tell me exactly what to look for in each chart, and what would mean 'real, growing demand' vs 'too small' vs 'seasonal'. 4. Give me a simple table to fill in with what I see, then I'll paste it back and you give me an honest verdict.

๐งฐ Before you start
- Google Chrome on a computer
- A Claude Pro plan (Claude in Chrome is not on the free plan)
- Your idea in one sentence, plus 5-10 words or phrases a customer might search
- One 'boring' control word for your field (for example 'seo', 'bakery', 'house for rent')
๐ช Step by step
- 1โ
Add Claude to Chrome
Click 'Add Claude to Chrome' below, add the extension and sign in with your Claude account. Pin it so the Claude icon sits next to the address bar.
- 2โ
Open Google Trends
Go to trends.google.com in Chrome. Pick your country at the top. Leave it open.
- 3โ
Write your word list
List the words a customer would type (not the jargon founders use), plus your control word. For example: 'ai seo', 'rank on chatgpt', 'answer engine optimisation', and control 'seo'.
- 4โ
Hand it to Claude
Open the Claude side panel and paste the 'Demand check' prompt below with your idea and words. Claude types the terms into Trends, runs several charts (Trends fits 5 terms per chart) and reads the numbers.
- 5โ
Read what it threw out
The prompt asks Claude to list anything it ignored and why, such as unrelated 'rising' searches. Check that list; it is where bad conclusions hide.
- 6โ
Turn it into copy
Use the words customers type most as your page headline, and the fast-growing ones as blog or post topics.
- 7โ
Optional: monthly radar
Each month, ask Claude to repeat the check and tell you only what changed.

I want to check real demand for my idea using Google Trends, which is open in this tab. Idea: [one sentence] Country: [country] Words customers might search: [list 5-10] Control word (a boring, steady term in my field): [e.g. seo] Please: 1. Compare the words over the last 5 years and the last 12 months. Trends fits 5 terms per chart, so run several charts and always include the control word so the 0-100 scale is comparable. 2. For each word, compare the same months this year vs last year, not the last 4 weeks. 3. Compare every word's growth with the control word's growth and say which ones beat it. 4. If every line drops in the same week, treat it as a Google data change, not the market, and say so. 5. Check 'related queries' and throw out anything unrelated. List everything you threw out and why. 6. End with: the 3 words customers use most, the 3 growing fastest, and one headline for my landing page using customer words. Remember Trends shows relative interest, not real search numbers. Don't invent numbers.
โ ๏ธ Tips & common mistakes
- Always add a boring control word. A rising line means little until you see the baseline rose too.
- Small niches show 'not enough data'. Go broader rather than guessing.
- One spike isn't a market. Look at two years or more.
- Trends shows interest, not sales. Talk to a few real customers before you spend money.
