Go to trends.google.com in Chrome. Pick your country at the top. Leave it open.
List the words a customer would type (not the jargon founders use), plus your control word. For example: 'ai seo', 'rank on chatgpt', 'answer engine optimisation', and control 'seo'.
Open the Claude side panel and paste the 'Demand check' prompt below with your idea and words. Claude types the terms into Trends, runs several charts (Trends fits 5 terms per chart) and reads the numbers.
The prompt asks Claude to list anything it ignored and why, such as unrelated 'rising' searches. Check that list; it is where bad conclusions hide.
Use the words customers type most as your page headline, and the fast-growing ones as blog or post topics.
Each month, ask Claude to repeat the check and tell you only what changed.
I want to check real demand for my idea using Google Trends, which is open in this tab. Idea: [one sentence] Country: [country] Words customers might search: [list 5-10] Control word (a boring, steady term in my field): [e.g. seo] Please: 1. Compare the words over the last 5 years and the last 12 months. Trends fits 5 terms per chart, so run several charts and always include the control word so the 0-100 scale is comparable. 2. For each word, compare the same months this year vs last year, not the last 4 weeks. 3. Compare every word's growth with the control word's growth and say which ones beat it. 4. If every line drops in the same week, treat it as a Google data change, not the market, and say so. 5. Check 'related queries' and throw out anything unrelated. List everything you threw out and why. 6. End with: the 3 words customers use most, the 3 growing fastest, and one headline for my landing page using customer words. Remember Trends shows relative interest, not real search numbers. Don't invent numbers.
