🧰 Before you start

🪜 Steps (tick as you go)

  1. ☐
    1. Upload your CV

Start a new Claude chat (or a Project, a saved workspace, if you'll do this weekly) and upload your CV. Ask Claude to sum up your skills and level in 3 lines and correct anything it gets wrong.

  2. ☐
    2. Answer the questions

Paste the 'Job shortlist' prompt. Claude stops and asks for your dream job titles, location, level, visa needs and minimum salary. Answer honestly.

  3. ☐
    3. Gather the adverts

Easiest: copy 20-50 recent adverts from your job sites into a document and upload it. Bigger batches: connect a data tool such as Apify in Claude's connectors, following each site's rules.

  4. ☐
    4. Let Claude clean and score

Claude removes duplicates and agency reposts, drops roles that fail your must-haves and scores the rest. It labels visa sponsorship 'Offered' only if the advert says so.

  5. ☐
    5. Get the spreadsheet

Ask for an Excel file with title, company, location, salary, date posted, match score, priority, skill gaps and the apply link, sorted best first.

  6. ☐
    6. Fix your CV

Read the list of keywords your CV is missing and the rewritten lines. Only use a line if it's true for you.

  7. ☐
    7. Apply to the top 10 first

Fresh adverts with fewer applicants are worth doing first. Tailor each application with Claude's notes, then send them yourself.

💬 Prompts to copy

💬 Job shortlist
Step 1: Read my CV and sum up my skills, experience and level in exactly 3 lines.
Step 2: Ask me my dream job titles, preferred location (remote / hybrid / office and cities), level, whether I need visa sponsorship and my minimum salary. Then STOP and wait for my answers.
Step 3: From the job adverts I give you, keep only ones posted in the last [14] days. Remove duplicates (same job ID, or same company and title in different cities, or agency reposts). If I need sponsorship, drop adverts that say they won't sponsor; mark sponsorship 'Offered' only if the advert says so, otherwise 'Not stated'.
Step 4: Make a spreadsheet: title, company, location, work type, salary, date posted, applicants if shown, sponsorship, required skills, match score 0-100, priority (High / Medium / Low), skill gaps, apply link. Add a 'Method' tab explaining your scoring.
Step 5: Give me the top 10 to apply for first (one line each on why), the 5 keywords most often missing from my CV, and 3 rewritten CV lines using only facts from my CV.
Rules: use only the real adverts I gave you. Never invent jobs, salaries, applicant numbers or links. If something is missing, write 'Not listed'.
