🧰 Before you start

🪜 Steps (tick as you go)

  1. ☐
    1. Create a bot called Brain

Install Grok Bot (buttons below), sign in, choose + then Create new Bot, and name it Brain.

  2. ☐
    2. Teach it about you

Paste about 20 emails you sent into the chat, then the 'About me' prompt below. It writes me.md (your work, goals and people) and voice.md (10 rules for how you write). No emails to paste? Ask it to interview you one question at a time.

  3. ☐
    3. Make the folder

Paste the 'Folder' prompt. It creates folders for raw material, people, projects and drafts, plus an index file, and saves the rules it must follow in its description (the bot's standing instructions).

  4. ☐
    4. Connect Gmail and file each night

Click Connect apps, add Gmail, and in Gmail put the label Brain on anything worth keeping. Then use the 'Nightly filing' prompt. Keep routines to a few runs a day; hourly ones use up your allowance fast.

  5. ☐
    5. Get a morning page

Add Google Calendar the same way, then use the 'Morning page' prompt. Each weekday you get one page: facts that came in, guesses marked as guesses, what it filed or drafted, what waits for your yes, open questions.

  6. ☐
    6. Make every correction stick

When it gets something wrong, tell it. The 'Rules' prompt makes it write each fix as one line in rules.md and reread that file before every task.

  7. ☐
    7. Optional: a Sunday reviewOptional extra

Ask for a Sunday page of what changed, what is drifting and what you decided and forgot. Report only; it changes nothing.

💬 Prompts to copy

💬 About me
Read the emails I pasted above. Write two files in /workspace/brain:
me.md: my work, my goals for the next three months, the people I deal with most and what we owe each other, and the things I keep promising and not doing.
voice.md: how I write, as 10 short rules, each with one real line of mine.
Quote only lines I wrote. Show me both files. Send, reply to or change nothing.
💬 Folder
Make /workspace/brain with: raw/ (new material exactly as it came, never edit), people/ (one file per person), projects/ (one file per project), out/ (drafts and plans for me), INDEX.md (one line per file) and log.md (one dated line per change). Every file starts with a one-line summary, the date and a link to its source. Update a file instead of making a new one.
Save this as your description: You are my second brain in /workspace/brain. Read INDEX.md first, then only the files it points to. Fast-changing facts (status, dates, amounts) come from the source app, never from memory. If nothing changed, say nothing. Draft first, and never send, buy, delete or publish without my yes.
Reply with the folder tree.
💬 Nightly filing and morning page
Set up routines in [my time zone], and show me each one for my yes before you create it:
1. Every night at 11pm: copy each new Gmail email labelled Brain into raw/ with its date, sender and link, file it into people/ or projects/ (or list it for me), and update INDEX.md and log.md. If Gmail fails, tell me instead of using old data. Reply to no one.
2. Weekdays at 7:30am: send me one page here: facts that came in (with links), guesses (marked as guesses), what you filed or drafted overnight, drafts in out/ waiting for my yes, open questions. If nothing is new, send nothing.
3. When I correct you, write the fix as one line in rules.md, show me the line, and reread rules.md before every task.
